ABOUT YOUR TEACHER

Eva is a third-generation Classical Pilates mat teacher, trained under Stephanie Fjalestad in Stockholm, Sweden. Her teaching lineage traces directly back to Joseph Pilates himself:
Joseph Pilates → Romana Kryzanowska → Stephanie Fjalestad → Eva von Jagow.

Rooted in tradition, Eva is committed to preserving and sharing the original Classical mat sequence and the philosophies behind it. Her teaching emphasizes precision, breath, flow, and the kind of deep internal strength that has made Pilates relevant for nearly a century.

 FAQs

  • Classical Pilates is a method of exercising developed by Joseph Pilates. Originally called Contrology, every exercise is a thoughtful blend of stretch, strength, and control. The method is rooted in breath, precision, concentration, control, and the principle that every movement begins from your center.

  • It’s the real deal. While many modern exercise methods have been inspired by Pilates, it’s Joseph Pilates’ original system that has stood the test of time. Classical Pilates teachers (myself included!) undergo extensive training and can trace our teaching lineage directly back to Joseph himself. In a Classical Pilates class, expect hands-on corrections, personalized feedback, and intimate class sizes—usually six people or fewer.

  • Pilates is a great form of exercise for almost everyone—whether you’re eight or eighty. As long as you’re able to stand, sit, and lie on the floor, you can join a class.

If you're pregnant, recovering from an injury, or have been referred by a physiotherapist, I recommend starting with at least one private lesson. This gives us time to go over your specific needs and explore how to safely adapt the exercises for you in a group setting.

  • Mat Pilates can be practiced almost anywhere—all you need is your body and a mat!

If you're joining an online class, you’ll also need a webcam and a reliable internet connection so I can see you clearly and offer live feedback.

  • Fair question! Certified Classical Pilates teachers complete hundreds of hours of rigorous education and training. And unlike big group fitness classes, Pilates is intentionally small-scale. My classes are capped at six people so I can offer personalized feedback and hands-on guidance every session. It’s a more focused, tailored experience—more like a semi-private lesson than a drop-in workout.

“In 10 sessions you’ll feel the difference, in 20 sessions you’ll see the difference, and in 30 sessions you’ll have a whole new body.”
